Flex 2, ColdFusion 7.02 Released, Flash 9

So I'm probably the last to blog it, but today was the big release day for the Flex 2 platform. (Links will be at the end.) I've already blogged about Flex 2 before and how great it is, but now is an excellent time to download it and start learning the technology. I cannot recommend it enough.

You can download Flex 2 (all the parts, including the IDE, SDK, etc) here. ColdFusion 7.0.2 may be downloaded here. And lastly, Flash 9 can be grabbed here.

Maybe now as you're of the Mac persuasion you can ask why there is no Mac version of Flex Builder. I'm sure Ben said there would be at launch when he visited the UK on his worldwide Flex 2 tour.

From my understanding, the Flex Builder problems on OS X were due to issues with Apple's JRE and rendering SWT and AWT widgets at the same time (which FB2 does.) However, I just went on Apple's Developer Center and see that this little gem was posted back on May 17th:

"SWT Compatibility Libraries for J2SE 5.0 Release 4

The SWT Compatibility Libraries address compatibility issues between J2SE 5.0 Release 4 and the SWT_AWT bridge in Eclipse 3.2RC3 and later on Mac OS X Tiger. See the Eclipse Javadoc for details on how to use this library in your SWT application. The SWT Compatibility Libraries do not replace any existing Java installations and are not compatible with Java releases prior to J2SE 5.0 Release 4 for Tiger."

I know FB2 uses Eclipse 3.1 (which means no Web Standard Toolkit or CFEclipse 1.2.9 :( ) but I wonder if the above libraries would work for FB2? Anyone care to try?

Hi Ray. Is there anyone you could talk to there to find out how this update affects the load time for Flash CFForm pages? Glad to hear about other great things going on.

What happens after the 30 day trial? Will my eclipse plug-in stop working too?

Paul, do you mean the plugin version of FB2? Yes, it will stop working. You need to purchase it if you want to keep using it.

Andy, it shouldn't affect the load times (afaik).

Any chance of getting a beta 3 build of Flex 2 anywhere?
