Lost is one step away...

I don't know about you guys - but Lost is about one step away from becoming a "Must watch right now" to a "Will DVR and watch when I have time." Tonight's episode just bugged me. The whole lead up to tonight's episode was that we would learn the answer to 3 questions.

Where are the kids? Well the guy that Sawyer rescued said they were brought to a better place. We also saw they were alive. Well gee, does that really answer anything? I mean I wouldn't have minded if they gave a good answer and it lead to ten more questions, but that was a complete and utter rip off. I mean I knew the Others have no problem killing people, but I was reasonably sure they had not killed the kids.

What do Jack's tattoos mean? Holy crap was that back story horrible. He is a leader - an outside. I think we already knew that. And even then - when the Other woman, the sheriff, did the translation, he said it wasn't the real meaning.

And the sad thing is - I don't even remember what the third question was.

The only thing "lost" this season is the direction and story telling. They better turn it around or the show will get canceled.

The third question was...

"Why does that chick have to dress like a hooker when she's doing the tattoo stuff?"

I thought tonight's episode was good. I do not recall what 3 questions were answered, and it was a weird back story, but I was not really disappointed.... ABC is always making previews look like one thing, but something totally different happens so I take the previews and teasers with a grain of salt

Ray - I couldn't agree more. Its really starting to get on my nerves with all the teasing they do. I bet the reason everyone will be talking next week is because they tell us nothing...AGAIN. I used to want to watch because I wanted to see what was going to happen, now I find myself watching because I have invested so much time, it would be a waste to not stick it out.

However, I think Jericho turned it up few notches with the episode tonight.

All I know is that the Asian chick is hot!

OMG, I always call a friend after Lost airs and we talk about it for an hour or so. The first thing we both asked was, "What was the 3rd thing?"

It just makes me annoyed when the last two episodes were so well done. Maybe it is just me but the Jack flashback episodes are the most boring episodes they show.

I am in watching Lost for the long haul but I certainly not watching the repeat of this episode if they show it before next week's show.

It wasn't bad, but I just started watching Lost a few episodes ago. I actually like what I've seen so far. This episode did have more loose ends then the others. So is this the way it works.. Each episode focuses on one character where they go back in time showing prior events. Is that how every episode is?
# Posted By BL | 2/22/07 2:58 AM
Ray, remember the show's creators said "It's all about the characters." So those sorta sci-fi twists are just to draw inquisitive minds in.. it's still all about drama and characters.

Scott, my darn DVR messed up Jericho. Luckily I'll be able to watch it on CBS this morning.

3rd question have something to do with showing the teddy bear?

RE: 3rd question have something to do with showing the teddy bear?

If it did, then it was a stupid question.

Well Ray, pesonally I've given up expecting "answers" to any questions. They usually only provide "partial" answers and they just open up new questions. Like what the heck did that girl mean when she said "We're watching"?

I'm interested in the storyline relating to Jack and Juliette with the others, but I was getting really tired of only seeing that storyline. Last week's focus on Desmond was really fascinating.

I hate that they moved the show to 10pm. I used to DVR it and watch it at 9:20 to skip commercials, but for some reason I can't get myself to NOT start watching until 10:20.

I guess I was under the impression that three major questions were going to be answered in the remainder of the season, so I wasn't really expecting any answers last night.

The most frustrating thing about watching Lost is the waiting. I ended up watching the first two seasons in the fall in about a two week span to check out what all the hubbub was about, and things definitely flowed together better than the one episode, week of conjecture I'm back to now.

But yea, the back story to this one wasn't very good at all...Jack's character deserved a better telling.

I think the story was fine. It was a basic down to earth story. It was not as detailed as some stories, but I think that is because in a future Jack story they will fill in more of the details so that story will really make sense. IE Did he go there right after he turned his dad in? Was it because his wife left him... I am sure they will tie it into something in the future. I think last night's episode was great.

I think last nights story showed that throughout his life, Jack has a history of problems when dealing with women. It seems that he always gets close to someone, screws it up and then realizes what a big mistake he has made. You can see it with his wife, Kate, the Asian woman and probably the woman from the others (can't remember her name) that he just saved from death.

It does kind of annoy me that his character is always trying to rescue women. It's almost like a compulsion to him. To me, he thinks that without his help or influence--all the women he meets would be doomed. I realize he is a doctor, but he's not God.

Overall, last nights episode was not bad. I just really like Lost better when more of the core characters are involved. I'd also like a return of some of the more Sci-Fi elements.

I'm done with the show, last night's episode was the last straw. I'm sick and tired of wasting my time watching a show that is nothing but (boring) melodrama wrapped around a huge MacGuffin. Nothing was advanced plotwise last night, no questions were answered. I want the 42 minutes I spent in front of my TiVo back.

The first season hooked me. I held on to hope during the second season, and now? I'm finished. I only wish they would cancel it next week; that's what it deserves.

Perhaps. :)

I think the 3rd question was "Was Cindy an other?" but it's irrelevant because the producers said they only intended 1 question - the tattoo question - to really be answered. It was ABC that hyped the other 2 things in the promos.

So Jack is a "Stranger in a strange land" does that make him an inside man with the others that will enable the losties to get the upper hand. More importantly, will he get US some answers. Tune in next week for the next exciting episode of LOST. Actually, the week after next is supposed to give us the most answers, and if that doesn't pan out, THEN I'll be disappointed.

What was that the Sargent At Arms said as Jack was getting in the boat? something like "you're not one of us". I'm bracing myself for this story to turn in to another Matrix 3. One where at the end they throw out all pretense of originality and it turns out to be just another twist on the second coming of Jesus. Only this time Jack is "the one". I'll quit t.v for good if that turns out to be the case.

Well.. I did think last nights episode was a little below par. I am starting to think that it's not worth Tivo-ing. The show has been really, REALLY good up until now. I'll stick with them a little longer. Don't want to jump ship just yet.

They did tell us where the kids were though... They said they gave them a better life. Must have sent them to Disney World?!

"Well, add one more mystery to the pile of unanswered questions about what's happening on this show: "Why aren't people in ABC's promo department allowed to watch the episode before crafting their wildly inaccurate commercials?" Why promise that three mysteries will be solved, when the one thing that is actually revealed (the story behind Jack's tattoo) isn't really a mystery, or even anything most viewers have even been wondering about."

The only thing I hope is that the show doesn't become another X-files, and compared to that steaming pile of crap I would say Lost is more than one step away. The first two episodes this month were rock solid, just because this one wasn't everything you wanted is no reason to whine about it. On the contrary it shows you're more hooked than ever, but I do find it humorous that so many of you geeks have this sense of entitlement when it comes to TV entertainment. For myself, I rather like the idea of turning the amperage down for an episode while we take in the fact that Desmond traveled through time and that cold bitch might be human after all. I'm sure the next mind bender is just around the corner and then it will be nothing but praise again...Such is the power of Lost.

The third question answered was knowing that the others don't actually live on that island. (Big deal, I know). Don't the writers read their own forum. People are pissed off, the ratings are tanking. Why don't they fix it? It's almost like they are trying to piss us off.

lOst, who's the "cold bitch"?

rick, "..another second coming of jesus story.." that's too funny.

I'm glad it's not just me. I was really into this show for a season and a half. But for crying out loud, we're on a deserted island...how do people just keep showing up out of the woodwork (and I mean on the beach, not even the "others"). And do the others have supernatural powers, or not (they know everything about everyone, but don't have access to medical care???) My wife is still hanging with it, but I think I'm done after last night. I think this is a clear example of writers who had a fantastic idea for a pilot, and were able to muddle through a full season, but had no idea where it was going, and now we're all paying the price. It's definitely starting to feel X-files-esque.

i agree with david merrick. this show is getting really old and doesn't captivate me at all. it's almost pointless to watch now because the story gets more and more drawn out. some of the dialogue and acting in thailand was just god awful.

on a positive note, ugly betty still rocks.

"only thing "lost" this season is the direction and story telling"
I never thought it had any after the first few episodes - it just meanders without plot from one unanswered question to the next.
I got too frustrated to watch it very quickly.

Sorry but Lost lost me a long time ago. It just feels like it's being made up as they go along and I don't think any of the writers actually know any of the answers yet themselves... I'll stick to Battlestar Galactica :)
