No hurricane will stop my blog - Details on Free ColdFusion for Education

Ever since it was announced at CFUNITED, folks have been hungry for more details concerning the free edition of ColdFusion for educators. Today Kristen Schofield blogged the details about this offer:

ColdFusion 8 Now Available to Students and Educators for Free

You can also find additional information at the FAQ.

I think this is a pretty good deal and I hope institutions take advantage of it. Are any of my readers going to use this?

p.s. Yes, we all survived, with some minor damage to the home. I'm at a friends house "borrowing" their electricity and net connection. When I get power back home I've got a bunch pictures, videos, and details to share.

Well thanks for letting us know - no Facebook activity etc. Glad to know you are safe and well!

Oh and as Simon Horwith stated "Hallelujah!"

Get some sleep now!

Good to know you're ok. I just rode out Tropical Storm Fay (live in Port St. Lucie, FL). And we're now expecting possibly Hannah, Ike, and Josephine...Had some water damage myself. Luckily it's a new structure and the builder is fixing it (some bad caulking). No flooding by us, but many people had new swimming pools around the city.

Very happy to hear you and the family are safe. With no activity, many of use were concerned. If you need anything, please ask. We are here for you.

I've asked this on Ben Forta's website but would like to ask here also...

Does anyone know what the difference between the development and educational versions are?

@Mark--as Ben answered on his blog:

"Well, Developer Edition is Enterprise Edition with IP address restrictions, so it will accept requests from a limited number of clients. Enterprise Edition obviously has no such restrictions."

Let us know if there are any other questions about this exciting new program!

Glad to see you're ok.

We teach ColdFusion to some of our students who work in our computer labs at our University. This should come in handy not only for teaching purposes, but also to let the students continue using ColdFusion on their own after the classes are over.

Heh, well, not everyone at Adobe knows ColdFusion. Shoot, should I feel bad for not using Dreamweaver? (I use Eclipse.)
